From the time you arrive in Kathmandu, the capital and cultural city of Nepal, we will be there at the airport to greet you and take you to your hotel.
Our journey begins with a 6-7 hour drive toward the Pokhara Valley and its beautiful Phewa Tal (lake) and then checking in to your hotel close to Phewa Tal.
We will drive around 1:25 hrs from Pokhara via attractive Lumle Village perched on the mountain side and then on to Nayapul (1050m). The Poon Hill trek begins at Nayapul and after a 30 minute hike reaches Birethanti where you will be asked to your tourist permit at the check point. Then we start trek to Tikhedhunga.
Our trek today starts with a 2 hour fairly steep climb up to Ulleri (2070m) and then to the Magar village of Banthanti from where we are blessed with magical views of Mt. Machapuchare (6997m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Annapurna South (7219m). After following the trail through a lush pink flowering rhododendron forest we cross a small bridge before reaching the village of Ghorepani where enormous peaks, such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna loom in the background. This is a fantastic place to sit and take in the exquisite views.
Poon Hill is justifiable well known for offering unheralded views of the Annapurna Ranges – especially at sunrise and sunset. An early start will see us reach the Poon Hill viewpoint where we can watch the changing colors reflecting off the mountains, such as Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7855m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (729m), Nilgiri (6940m), Tukuche (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m) & Lamjung Himal (6931m). After sending your camera into overdrive we will return to a well deserved breakfast at Ghorepani, after which we head to Tadapani Village via the scenic trail passing through Deurali (meaning ridge in Nepali) and teahouses until we reach Tadapani.
Today’s 3 hour trek is relatively easy taking us through an oak and rhododendron forest. Wildflowers are noticeable along the trail, adding to the vivid beauty of this area. Once we reach the mainly Gurung village of Ghandruk we will be in awe as we view Annapurna South, Gangapurna, (7455m), Machapuchare, Annapurna III and Hiunchuli. Ghandruk is the 2nd largest Gurung village in Nepal with a population of 4748 people. It is rich in culture with a museum and Buddhist monastery. Most fascinating is its unique style of architecture with most houses having slate tiled roofs and stone walls. It is like stepping back in time.
Today’s trek will take about 4 hours, but is fortunately mostly downhill before arriving at Jhinu Danda where we can sit in the therapeutic natural hot springs on the bank of the Modi Khola River. If you are brave enough you can plunge into the freezing waters – depending on conditions of course! Tonight you will sleep like a baby.
20 minutes walk from Jhinu Dada to Samrung . Off-road and Pitch road drive from Samrung to Pokhara-Approx 3 hours drive (If guest want to do sightseeing in Pokhara we will provide sightseeing package as per guest’s request)
