Druk Path Trek is one of the finest short treks in Bhutan. It takes you to the natural wilderness through an ancient trading route, over high mountain passes, it connects the valleys of Paro and Thimpu. This trek also offers stunning views of valleys, lakes, Himalayan snow-capped mountains like Mount Gangkar Puensum, the highest mountain in Bhutan and the world’s tallest unscaled peak. The trail passes through spectacular rhododendron forests, alpine yak pastures and beautiful lakes stocked with snowy mountain trouts. The trek begins by walking up through apple orchards and pine forest past ruined Jele Dzong (fortress), which sits on a high grassy ridge with breath-taking views of Mount Jumolhari to the north. Druk path trek starts from Kathmandu valley of Nepal where you will have cultural as well as scenic sightseeing. On the following day, you will fly to Bhutan. After you arrive at Paro Airport our crew member will pick you from there and escort to the hotel and the next day you will start trekking. Your journey begins from Paro and ends at Thimpu. Along the trail, you will visit the National Museum (Ta-Dzong), Taktshang Lhakhang, Jimilang Lake, Simkota, Lake Janetsho, Tashichho Dzong, etc. You will get to know the people and their lifestyles, cultures, and traditions. Here, you will reach a maximum height of 4000 M above sea level while trekking. This is a short but exhilarating trek where you will be welcomed by beautiful natures and blooming rhododendron forest. It is medium and in some sections can be challenging but does not require any previous experiences and skills. Everyone can have fun with it and it is at its best during spring and autumn.
You will be warmly greeted by Well Nepal at your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu. Our representative will be waiting just in front of the arrival door at TIA and then you will be picked and escorted to the hotel. Enjoy Overnight at hotel. Enjoy Dinner service.
This is your Kathmandu sightseeing day and preparation day too. You will visit the famous Swayambunath temple, Bhaktapur Durbar square and other beautiful places of Kathmandu. If you need anything before heading out then you have to shop on this day. Here a short briefing about the trip is given and pre-tour discussion is done with the tour leader and members. Feel free to ask any questions regarding your tour.
You will have a scenic flight over the Himalayas of Nepal in the morning and after one hour of flight, you arrive at Paro Airport. Along the way, you will get a glimpse of Mt. Everest including others. You will be picked up in the airport by our representative and escorts you to a hotel. You will get freshen up and head out to explore Paro which is a beautiful valley with rich culture and architects, myths, legends, and natural beauty. After your lunch, you will visit Taktsang Lhakhang which is also known as “The Tigers Nest”. To get here we hike uphill 900 M above the valley as it sits on a cliff. It is the most sacred place of Bhutanese and visited by each of them once in a lifetime. Then we visit Kyichu Lhakhang (7th-century sacred shrine built by Tibetan King Songsten Gompo), and RinpungDzong also called “The Heap of Jewels”.
Today our real trek starts. After breakfast, we begin our hike and trail towards Jele Dzong. We gradually climb up to the Jele Dzong trails and ascend up to camp then again up climb, finally pass through Jele La Pass (3400 M) to Jele Dzong which is mostly found in ruins. You can see the beautiful scenery of Paro valley and Mt. Chomolhari if sky and weather are clear. It takes about 4 hours of hike covering about 8 Km to reach here from Paro. We visit this Dzong and camp for tonight.
Today is another uphill climb day. After breakfast, we gradually head up through pine forest, rhododendron forests where we get chance to hear some Monal Pheasants calling at day time. You can see stunning vistas of Mt. Chomolhari (7,314m) and other peaks if weather is clear. Finally covering 10 Km of distance for by hours takes us to our Jangchulakha. Enjoy nature here and rest overnight in the grazing area of Rawana at camp.
We will do early breakfast and get ready for today’s adventures. We will follow its ridge enjoying the beautiful vistas of Mountains and Jichu Drake (6989 M) then, visit its lake. We have covered 11 Km of distance in 4/5 hours. We will camp along the lakeside and this lake is famous for giant sized trout’s. Overnight at camp.
Today we trail through dwarf rhododendron forests and bass by the lake of Janetsho then we may encounter some Yak herder’s camp there. We will interact and get to their way of life. After traveling 10 Km of distance within 5 hours, we finally arrive at Lake of Simkota, we then explore this area and camp here for tonight.
Today is our short trek day. Our trail begins from the gradual climb with scenic views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum and other peaks, then the trail takes us downward through a juniper forest and a short walk from there takes us at Phajoding and visit its monastery. It is only 9 km of distance and takes about 4 hours to reach here. Overnight at camp.
Today is our last day of the trek. We will have breakfast and we trail down to Thimpu. We gradually climb down through Blue pine forested area at a slow pace and 3 hours of the walk takes us to Thimpu which is the capital city of Bhutan. Then you will have lunch and take short tour to several religious sites of Thimpu likerd National memorial Stupa of Bhutan’s 3 King, Tashichho Dzong, Simtokha Dzong (which is the place of profound tantric teaching), Changangkha Lhakhang (12th century temple monastic school and temple), ZilukhaNunnery, Bhutan’s folk Museum, textile weaving center, zorigChoesuem, and handicrafts areas. Then drive to Paro which is only one hour drive from Thimpu. Overnight in Hotel at Paro.
Today you journey at the Kingdom of Thunder Dragon ends. You will have breakfast and be driven to Paro airport. If you have got time before flight enjoys shopping at Bhutan otherwise gather your luggage’s, collect equipment and memorial events and say goodbye to Bhutan and leave for Kathmandu.
Today is your leisure day at Kathmandu you are free to enjoy any of the services and facilities at Kathmandu like sports games, shopping’s, movies, restaurants, and Bars and get your beloved and close one a memory of Nepal.
