Pisang Peak Climbing

Pisang Peak Climbing involves trekking in the famous Annapurna region and summiting Pisang Peak. Additionally, we also visit Muktinath and trek in the beautiful Manang region of Nepal. We drive to Chamje via Dharapani  the next day and begin trekking from there. We enjoy views of Annapurna, Tilicho and Gangapurna on our trek leading to Pisang Peak and summit the peak on the ninth day of our journey. The views of the Annapurna ranges, Dhaulagiri and other Himalayas from the top are magnificent. On our way back we follow the route that leads us to crossing Muktinath which is an important pilgrimage site for Nepalese people. We cross Thorong La Pass which is the highest mountain pass in the world to reach Muktinath. Our Pisang Peak itinerary also includes the beautiful Jomsom region which will be a worthwhile experience. From Jomsom, we fly to Pokhara and drive to Kathmandu from there, ending our amazing trip in Nepal.

Itinerary

Welcome to Kathmandu, a city full of vibrant markets, bustling streets, colorful temples and grand pagodas. Our representative will meet you at the airport and take you to hotel.

You can do some last minute shopping around Thamel ,we will prepare all the documents needed for peak climbing and arrange staffs.

Today, after an early breakfast, we will drive for about 5 to 6 hours before reaching Besisahar – about 190 kilometers from Kathmandu. After reaching Besisahar we will head by jeep to Chamje .

Trek from Chamje to Dharapani by enjoying amazing waterfalls and adventurous road. Dharapani village where we will stay the night.

Today we begin trekking from Dharapani climbing higher and a noticeable change with cooler conditions. You will see a change in the landscape at this higher elevation as the trail passes through forests before reaching the Tibetan village of the Bagarchhap with its distinctive Tibetan architecture. Climbing higher we reach the apple-growing region and farms along with pine forests and views of Lamjung and Annapurna II peaks. The trail then follows the Marsyangdi River heading upstream and passes the village named  Koto before reaching Chame. It is a very easy walk from Koto to Chame where we spend the night. Chame is the district headquarters of the Manang region.

After leaving Chame on our five to six hour trek we pass through Telekhu and along the trail have some breathtaking views of Annapurna and Pisang (6091m) until we have to re-cross on a suspension bridge to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River. After crossing the river we then head higher passing a pine-forest as we trek through the upper reaches of the Manang valley to Pisang. At the upper edge of Pisang village we can see Pisang and Chulu peaks.

Medical professionals recommend that before heading to higher elevations that trekkers spend some time acclimatizing. They also recommend staying active. From here you have some very impressive views of the Annapurnas, Gangapurna and Tilicho. Tonight we will stay at the lodge.

Today we begin our three to four hour trek by ascending to Base Camp and to find a suitable place to set up camp for the night. There are several flat places to erect our tents at Yak Kharka where we stay overnight.

Today we ascend for three to four hours all the way to High Camp climbing across the south west ridge. We will set up our tents here tonight.

We have a long day ahead of us as we set out on a seven to nine hour trek to Pisang Peak summit. We follow the ridge and then come to a more difficult section where we fix ropes until reaching the summit. From the summit there are some extraordinary panoramic views over the surrounding mountains. After taking in the views and regaining our breath we will descend back to Base Camp for the night.

We will head to Pisang Village on the first leg of our trek today and then follow the trail on the banks of the river. The landscape at this lower altitude is greener and denser compared with the desolate landscape on Pisang Peak. Manang is situated in the valley of the Marsyangdi River.

We make our way to the foot of the pass (Thorong Pedi) situated at the base of Thorong La Pass. This is a small village where we will stay the night.

Today is most likely the toughest day of the trek, hiking for around 6 to 8 hours. The higher altitude contributes to the degree of difficulty and sometimes strong winds in these upper regions. Along the trail, we may pass sheep, yaks, and merchants transporting their goods. Once we reach Thorong La Pass we will be rewarded with breath-taking views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and the eye-catching peak of Khatungkang (6484m). Leaving the pass we descend around 1600 meters and the brilliant Dhaulagiri (Dhaula Giri, meaning “White Mountain”) is the highest mountain that is entirely in Nepal. The trail is more undulating and relatively easy before we reach Muktinath where we stay the night.

From Muktinath, we pass through lush meadows, fruit trees, and streams passing through Kagbeni before we reach Jomsom in the Kali Gandaki valley. Jomsom is the headquarters of the Mustang District and home to the Thakali people. This should take us about five to six hours.

We have an early 35 minute flight to catch to Pokhara today. The scenic flight takes us between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks and offers fantastic views of other Himalayan mountains. We have the entire afternoon to explore Pokhara and can sit by Lakeside with a drink or maybe do some shopping along the shopping area alongside Phewa Tal (lake).

Today we head back on a 6 to 7-hour drive to Kathmandu with many fond memories of Nepal and its unique culture and geography. These memories will last a lifetime!

White Himalayan Adventure Treks staff will transfer you to the airport for your final departure from Nepal.
