During the flight you can enjoy stunning views of Himalayas. After landing at Tenzing-Hilary airport you meet your porter. He will carry your luggage. Then you start your trekking. It descends steeply then runs level above Kyangma village, which has a large gompa (monastery) and school. After that, you enter Cheplung village. The trail descends through community forest with the sight of Dudh Koshi River. Crossing suspension bridge it’s a short climb around the ridge to Ghat. Leaving Ghat the trail passes a school and complex of mani walls, Chortens and prayer wheels. Then the trail climbs to the hamlet of Chhuthawa. From Chhuthawa after a short walk, you reach to Phakding.

This idyllic town is an ideal place for “acclimatization”. Health specialists recommend we spend the day being active, rather than sitting idle. From Namche it is possible to take a short hike to Everest View Resort, visit Khumjung or relax and explore Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the main center of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants and bakery.A short trek of only a hundred metres will help us to properly acclimatize. Our guides will also take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of relics related to the first mountaineers to climb Everest, Sherpa culture and discover the varied plant and animal life of the Everest region.
The trail starts with a steep ascent from the valley passing through rhododendron, juniper and large conifer forest that heightens the senses with their aroma. The trail passes through Yak Kharka (meaning grazing pasture for yak) and various Sherpa villages. Throughout the trek, we will be blessed with awesome views of Khumbu La Pass and Tengboche.
Our trek today takes us through the valley among juniper forests. Not long after we have magical views of Mt. Cho Oyu and close by, Mt. Khangtega (6782m) and Mt Thamserku (6623m). In the early afternoon, we finally reach Machhermo Village (4470m) where we will spend the rest of the day exploring the village and outskirts. Tonight we stay at Machhermo.
After breakfast, the trail continues and then before your eyes is the towering Mt. Cho Oyu (8281m) – real wow moment! Further on we come to the gorge at the base of Mt. Khangtega. Also capturing our attention is the enormous mass of Ngozumpa Glacier. After stopping for a lunch break we head to Gokyo’s fifth lake where cameras can be unleashed! A steady ascent takes us to Gokyo where we stay the night.
A big day lays ahead as we trek to Gokyo Ri (Gokyo Peak). Gokyo Ri is located in the Khumbu region of Everest with an altitude of 5357 meters. Gokyo Ri is well known by trekkers for the jaw-dropping views of several enormous mountains in the Khumbu region, which of course includes Mount Everest. After sitting in awe and frantically clicking cameras we head back to Machhermo where we stay overnight at a guesthouse.
Today we head back to the famous Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar. The trail from Machhermo is relatively easy and passes through a number of Sherpa villages and isolated settlements. Tonight we stay in a guesthouse at Namche Bazar.
This is our final day of trekking before returning to our starting point at Lukla. This is a time to reflect on the unforgettable memories of our trek as a group and our achieving our individual goals. A free afternoon allows you time to relax and enjoy a hot shower! In the evening we will celebrate with a few drinks and dance.. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
